“Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help.
Only if we help shall all be saved.”
– Jane Goodall
Remote Ranger connects children around the world in designing and building solutions to end wildlife trafficking. Students engage in STEM projects specific to an ecosystem / reserve. They collaborate in implementing the solution and discuss it online. And at the end of the day, they see the impact of their solutions in real time.
The pilot project, the Amakhala Kit, provides ultrasonic motion sensor devices (UMSDs) to anti-poaching units in the Amakhala Game Reserve in Eastern Cape South Africa via a partnership with Global Conservation Force’s flagship conservation effort, Operation Rhino Shield.
“Amakhala Game Reserve believes that being a Ranger and Field Guide is not just a job, it is a pivotal role in protecting our wildlife and natural heritage, and an opportunity to be an ambassador for our region and its conservation.”
“[Global Conservation Force has] a multi-focal approach in which we focus in 5 primary categories; Anti-poaching units, community based conservation, education & awareness, technology, and combatting international wildlife trafficking.”
